You’ve probably heard the term SDV a lot when talking about cars these days. Hyundai Motor Group is also putting a lot of effort into this SDV transition. They aim to make vehicles not just hardware products, but platforms that can be updated with software and control various functions, much like a smartphone.

Of course, it’s still in the pilot service stage, and there are evaluations that it’s a bit slow, but I believe these attempts will ultimately accelerate the era of future mobility. Personally, I hope the day comes when I can comfortably reach my destination in a robotaxi. Wouldn’t that be incredibly convenient?

Looking at Hyundai Motor‘s recent global sales performance, you can see that they are doing reasonably well despite challenging environments like geopolitical risks. Especially in the first quarter of this year, they recorded their highest-ever sales performance in the US market, which is truly remarkable. The significant increase in hybrid vehicle sales led the overall performance.
Furthermore, Hyundai Motor Group has set a goal to transform into a ‘Physical AI company’ by investing an enormous 160 trillion won both domestically and internationally by 2030. With intensive investments in future businesses such as autonomous driving, robotics, SDV, and hydrogen energy, I am truly excited to see what innovations Hyundai will showcase in the future.
